Breckinridge United CEO Jonathan Boyd informed and invited those attending to a legislative reception in Frankfort on February 4 at the Frankfort Convention Center. This is being sponsored by C-LINK which is an alliance of Chambers west of I-65 of which the Breckinridge County Chamber is a member.
The main speaker for the Chamber breakfast, Breckinridge Health, CEO Mike Cooper informed those attending that he has been in healthcare for 30 years. Cooper said, "I love healthcare with a passion."
He told those attending that the new Breckinridge Memorial Hospital would have an open house on Sunday, January 24 beginning with a ribbon cutting at 2:00 PM and continuing until 5:00 PM.
The new facility has two new surgical suites with room for a third. It has state-of-the-art equipment which hopefully will attract new physicians and specialists.
Cooper said the rooms are private with a couple set up for two patients. The rooms provide space for the families to gather and provides a good atmosphere for recuperation and healing.
The new registration area meets all the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 requirements by providing private areas for discussion with and registration of new patients. The new facility also has a room for the hospital's dietician, and isolation room and a bariatric room for obese patients.
Previous CEOs George Walz and John Monnahan, the hospital foundation and the hospital board were given credit for their efforts and guidance in making this new facility a reality.
Hospital functions will begin in the new structure next month.
The next Chamber breakfast will be Tuesday, Februay 16 at the Green Valley Restaurant in Irvingotn.
