Fiddlers Country Mall
If you have been to Rough River State Park Marina lately you may have noticed there is a new store on Hwy 79, directly across from the entrance to the State Park Marina (next to Clements Marine).Fiddlers Country Mall, with its€™ big green roof and wide covered porches filled with ample seating, is a welcome addition to the Rough River area.
Fiddlers Country Mall opened in July 2007 after many months of renovation to the old building. Charlie and Cathy Corbett of Falls of Rough, KY purchased the old pink Porch Swing building several years ago for its€™ great location and the opportunity to create a place with the ambiance and feel of yesteryear. Charlie, who is an avid musician, grew up on this lake and wanted to help rejuvenate the strip along Hwy 79. Cathy grew up on lakes in the upper Midwest where trading posts and souvenir stores are a common fixture around the lakes. Both of them enjoy the old€time gift shops in Gatlinburg and The Smokies, but wanted to feature local artists and crafters in need of an outlet to promote their work. Put it all together and you have Fiddlers Country Mall. A local mini€art fair under that big green roof!
Fiddlers is full of gifts, quilts, unique lake or country home decorations, cards, candles, custom€made jewelry, stoneware, KY€made crafts and the works of several local artists. You can find baskets from Mona Hinton, painted cards from Jerry Bennett, Amish painted prints and turkey feathers from Daniel Miller, wood carvings from several local artists, custom painted home decorations from MariSu Paints, quilted purses and custom stitch€works from Middle of the Woods Embroidery, rustic birdhouses that would be the envy of all your feathered friends! For Christmastime they have stocked up on very unique country and lake€themed ornaments. For the guys there are custom carved bird calls, hunting knives, hand€made fishing lures and more! Each room in the mall features a different theme. There is a whimsical treat around every corner! According to Debbie Mattingly, General Manager of Fiddlers, the feedback has been great. €œWhen the front door opens with the ring of country bells we always hear the same 3 things: It smells great! It looks SOOO cute and country! And your prices are really reasonable!€ Drive on out to Falls of Rough and do some Christmas shopping at Fiddlers Country Mall. They€™ve got free hot cider and cocoa and lots of warm, friendly faces to help you find the perfect Christmas gift.
